The Healthcare Workforce Committee launched two surveys to assess the future workforce needs of healthcare fields in the region. Using as its model two surveys that were developed by the Fox Valley Healthcare Alliance in Wisconsin, the surveys served two purposes.
The first, the Healthcare Staff Assessment survey, was addressed to Human Resources staff in area healthcare organizations to determine their perceived needs in the future regarding staff vacancies and hiring.
The second, the Retirement and Departure Intention survey, was address to individual employees and anonymously requested information regarding employees future plans for leaving the healthcare profession and what factors affected that decision.
The intent of the surveys is to generate awareness of future changes in the healthcare workforce and to promote dialogue among healthcare employers and the academic institutions that prepare graduates for entry into these fields.
